Pixar has done it yet again! – Wall·E has won a much deserved Oscar for best animated feature.

In the words of Jack Black, when asked how he makes money on his animation work:

I take what I make on a Dreamworks movie and bet it all on Pixar!

All movies that come out of Pixar is great and Wall·E is an instant classic, with a heart felt storyline, that offers something for everyone.

As you might have guessed, Wall·E is a favourite of mine.

The Dark Knight

Comic book movies are usually just shiny happy explosions combined with good guys beating bad guys. – Fun to watch but lacking in substance.

Fortunately The Dark Knight is not like the rest of them, and neither was Batman Begins. The two “new” Batman films are definitely my favorite ones.

Gotham City is properly portrayed, as Dennis O’Neil would put it “Batman’s Gotham City is Manhattan below Fourteenth Street at eleven minutes past midnight on the coldest night in November.”. The acting is superb! Christian Bale is perfect as Bruce/Batman and Heath Ledger marvels as The Joker.

I must admit that I was some what skeptic about Heath Ledger’s performance – It has been hyped across all medias – could it really be that great? I mean, I like Heath, but could he really beat Jack? The short answer … Yes! – He’s really that good!

I highly recommend this film to anyone who likes the dark side of Batman. A side that until Batman Begins had been way to understated.

Pride & Prejudice

I have a confession… I dig chick flicks, its not something that I am proud of, but there you have it…

Last sunday we went to see Pride & Prejudice, and I must say that I really like it =)

The charaters are very well depicted and the scenery is beautifull, although some of the photoage could have benefitted from a second color grading.

Go see it, even Ebert likes it …

The Mummy

Or should I say, ‘Army of Darkness II’?

Aside for its setting i Egypt and not starring Bruce Cambell as our anti hero, The Mummy is almost a complete copy of Sam Raimi’s Evil dead / Army of darkness movies.

Buy hey, I totally dig Sam Raimi’s way of making movies, so if you forget about the amount of plagiarism then The Mummy is a really cool movie! It has super nice special effects, a ok story1, a cool hero and a cute heroine.

  1. Sam Raimi wrote it… well kinda… []

The only good thing in this movie was nurse Harper played by Salma Hayek1.
