A friend of mine challenged me to share my active Wordpress plugins.

So here goes, from one plugin addict to another

Plugin	Description	Note
Akismet	Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. You need a WordPress.com API key to use it. You can review the spam it catches under "Comments." To show off your Akismet stats just put in your template. See also: WP Stats plugin. By Matt Mullenweg.	Because I hate spam
Amazon Reloaded for WordPress	Allows WordPress users to quickly and easily use Amazon information in their posts. By Nick Ohrn of Plugin-Developer.com.	Quickly create affiliate links
Blog Copyright	Simple plugin to inject copyright statement into blog footer. Configuration options are here. By Blog Traffic Exchange.	If a particular theme does'nt include a copyright footer, this one will add one.
Dagon Design Sitemap Generator	Generates a fully customizable sitemap By Dagon Design.	Nice site map.
del.icio.us for Wordpress	Displays your recently listened links. Based on Pownce for Wordpress by Cavemonkey50.	Add my Delicious.com feed to the sidebar.
Facebook Comments	Copies comments from your imported Facebook Notes back into your blog entries.	My blog posts are imported as notes on Facebook, this brings the comments back.
FeedBurner FeedSmith	Originally authored by Steve Smith, this plugin detects all ways to access your original WordPress feeds and redirects them to your FeedBurner feed so you can track every possible subscriber. By FeedBurner.	Let google handle my rss feed.
Google Analyticator	Adds the necessary JavaScript code to enable Google's Analytics. After enabling this plugin visit the options page and enter your Google Analytics UID and enable logging. By Ronald Heft, Jr..	Let google analyze my site, generates really useful stats.
Google XML Sitemaps	This plugin will generate a sitemaps.org compatible sitemap of your WordPress blog which is supported by Ask.com, Google, MSN Search and YAHOO. Configuration Page By Arne Brachhold.	Creates a sitemap for search engines, just because they are robots doesn't mean we shouldn't be nice to them.
Keyword Link Plugin	A SEO plugin that helps you to automatically link keywords to articles. By Martijn Dijksterhuis.	I like links, and this will link specific keywords such as twitter to url I specify.
Limit Login Attempts	Limit rate of login attempts, including by way of cookies, for each IP. By Johan Eenfeldt.	Discourage people from brute forcing the login page.
NextGEN Gallery	A NextGENeration Photo gallery for the Web 2.0. By Alex Rabe.	A really nice way to handle photographs.
OpenID	Allows the use of OpenID for account registration, authentication, and commenting. Also includes an OpenID provider which can turn WordPress author URLs into OpenIDs. By DiSo Development Team.	Because it is cool to have your own OpenID server. And it makes it easy for me to login to various services.
pageMash	Manage your multitude of pages with pageMash's slick drag-and-drop style, ajax interface. Allows quick sorting, hiding and organising of parenting. By Joel Starnes.	An easy way to reorder pages in the site menu. ((You can do this by hand, by editing a numbers in the page attributes, but this is way easier))
Redirection	A redirection manager By John Godley.	I have had a lot of different blogging systems over the years, this lets me fix broken links by redirecting to the new Wordpress location.
Scissors	This plugin adds cropping and resizing functionality to Wordpress' image upload and management dialogs. Scissors also allows automatic resizing of images when they are uploaded and supports watermarking of images. Additionally, images that are resized in the post editor are automatically resampled to the requested size using bilinear filtering when a post is saved. By Stephan Reiter.	Uploaded images are often not the correct size, and this plugin saves me a trip to my image editing program.
Search Regex	Adds search & replace functionality across posts, pages, comments, and meta-data, with full regular expression support By John Godley.	When importing an old blog in to Wordpress it is really useful to have global search and replace.
Shockingly Big IE6 Warning	A shockingly BIG or SMALL warning message about the dangers of using IE6. Go to the plugin page for options. By matias s.	Because I really dislike IE6.
Sidebar Login	Adds a sidebar widget to let users login By Mike Jolley.
Sociable	Automatically add links on your posts, pages and RSS feed to your favorite social bookmarking sites. Go to Settings -> Sociable for setup. By Joost de Valk.	Allow readers to easily share my pages and posts.
Textiler	This plugin supports Textile syntax for posts. By Wongoo Lee.	A lot of my old content was in textile, this lets me use it as is.
Theme Test Drive	Safely test drive any theme while visitors are using the default one. Includes instant theme preview via thumbnail. By Vladimir Prelovac.	Really useful for testing or developing new themes.
Tweetbacks	Show the tweets about your posts and pages as comments on your blog! By Joost de Valk.	Imports tweets as comments.
TweetRoll	Displays your TweetRoll - A widget which shows your Twitter details and friends By Owen Cutajar.	A nice looking twitter widget, this one shows my profile image and some of the people I follow.
Twitter updater	Updates Twitter when you create a new blog or publish one By Ingo "Ingoal" Hildebrandt, edited by Eric Austin Lee.	Tweet when posting new posts.
Twitter Widget Pro	A widget that properly handles twitter feeds, including @username and link parsing, and can even display profile images for the users. Requires PHP5. By Aaron D. Campbell.	Another nice twitter widget, this one shows my recent tweets.
WordPress.com Stats	Tracks views, post/page views, referrers, and clicks. Requires a WordPress.com API key. By Andy Skelton.	More stats
WordPress Admin Bar	Creates an admin bar inspired by the one at WordPress.com. Credits for the look of this plugin go to them. By Viper007Bond.	A nice admin menu bar that shows on all pages of your blog.
WordPress Database Backup	On-demand backup of your WordPress database. Navigate to Tools > Backup to get started. By Austin Matzko.	Backs stuff up.
WP-Footnotes	Allows a user to easily add footnotes to a post. By Simon Elvery.	Textile has footnotes, and this plugin adds footnotes to Wordpress. ((and they look much nicer than the textile ones))
WP-Polls	Adds an AJAX poll system to your WordPress blog. You can easily include a poll into your WordPress’s blog post/page. WP-Polls is extremely customizable via templates and css styles and there are tons of options for you to choose to ensure that WP-Polls runs the way you wanted. It now supports multiple selection of answers. By Lester 'GaMerZ' Chan.	For small surveys.
WP-Polls Widget	Adds a Poll Widget to display single or multiple polls from WP-Polls Plugin. You will need to activate WP-Polls first. By Lester 'GaMerZ' Chan.
WP-Syntax	Syntax highlighting using GeSHi supporting a wide range of popular languages.By Ryan McGeary.	Allows me to display source code snipets.
wp-Table	This plugin is a simple table manager. I didn't find anything in the web which creates the same result, for my purpose. By Alex Rabe.	The plugin that generated this table. ((I had to do some manual hacking for it to work though))
WP Sentry	Granular user and group access controls for private posts. By Pete Holiday.	Allows me to blog about my vacation and such, without letting the whole world know about it. ((In particular it is nice not to advertise "I'm not home" to potential burglars))
WPtouch iPhone Theme	A plugin which reformats your site with a mobile theme when viewing with an Apple iPhone, Apple iPod touch, Google Android or Blackberry Storm touch mobile device. Set options for the theme by visiting the WPtouch Options admin panel. By Dale Mugford & Duane Storey.	Lets people with iPhones access my site in a way that is more iPhone friendly.
XRDS-Simple	Provides framework for other plugins to advertise services via XRDS. By DiSo Development Team.	This one is needed by the Google XML site map plugin.
